Industrial visit for 3rd semester BBA and B com students

The 3rd semester students of BBA and B com were taken on an industrial visit to GP Foods Pvt Ltd at Jigani in Bengaluru.

Located at the industrial hub of Bangalore, GP foods Pvt. Ltd. manufactures chocolates under the brand name Gone Mad. The joint venture between Indonesian based Garuda foods and India’s Polyflex industries has a state of the art facility at Jigani that caters to the entire country.

The visit started with a video presentation given by Mr. Anton Albert, the HR manager, who traced the origin, the variants of chocolates and its competitors. The students then witnessed a live production of the flagship product, the chocolate sticks. The factory shop floor was a synonym of quality and the visitors had to wear masks, head and foot gear that ensured cleanliness in the plant premises. The assembly line was closely monitored and each unit was explained by the guide. The aroma of chocolate wafted in the air and the students got a whiff of the production processes.

It was indeed a learning lesson on the realities of a production and manufacturing facility and the undergraduate students found the visit extremely insightful. The icing on the cake was the gift hamper of chocolates received by the students and they took home sweet memories of the visit.

Faculty members who accompanied the students were Dr. Lakshmi S R, Mr. Arun Kumar Rajendran and Ms. Sunita Ramaswamy.
