As the country is progressing and more and more youth are required to join the workforce. Currently, India is facing a huge talent gap. A large number of educated students with the lack of employ ability skills is being witnessed. Thus, Barclay’s decided upon an intervention to bridge the skill gap by integrating industry required job skills & life skills with the existing curricula would enable in enhancing the employability potential of the college youth. This intervention has been rolled out in collaboration with the VyaktiVikas Kendra of the Art of Living with the objective of providing an opportunity to colleges across India to implement life skills and entrepreneurship skill initiatives.

In these lines, this program was extended to all the 126 students of MBA 3rd semester students who are currently being made job ready. The program ran for 18 hours over a period of 3 days (7 – 9th December 2017) covering key skill areas such as Communication skills, Resume building skills, Interview skills, Problem solving and situation handling ability, Group discussion and Job hunting – the smart way.

The program was completely activity based and at the end of the program, the students learnt how to introduce themselves professionally, how get rid of the interview jitters, how to effectively write their resumes to suit the job profile and how to make the right impression. It was heartening to note that students who are otherwise quiet, came out of their comfort zones and spoke in public. Each student prepared their CV and appeared for mock interviews.

The overall result was extremely positive as the students expressed that they much more confident now and ready to take on the real time employment scenario. The department extends its gratitude to the Management, principal, Dr. Shikha Tiwari & the Executive Director, Management Studies Department, Dr. NilanjanaBasu for their encouragement and support.
