Report on UBA NSS Swachh Bharat Abhiyan Activity at Doddathoguru Village on IndependenceDay

Mahatma Gandhi had rightly said, “Sanitation is more important than Independence”. He was aware of the pathetic situation of rural India at that time and he dreamt of a clean India where he emphasised on cleanliness and sanitation as an integral part of living. As part of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, a lot of activities are undertaken to ensure a clean and green India. The Students Role in Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is said to be vital in turning India clean and green as they are the emerging crops of nation. Being said that, they are the brand ambassadors of this noble cause. Students can also help their ignorant or illiterate family members and others.

A cleanliness drive was taken up by NSS volunteers as part of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan project at Doddathoguru Village by celebrating 73rd Independence Day in the village. 35 NSS student Volunteers from T.John College picked up unwanted plants and plastic waste in the public utility area. Not only students cleaned the given areas but also they educated and created awareness to the rural people that “Cleanliness is often achieved through cleaning”. Volunteers were given food and refreshments. The initiative was taken by Ms. Vaishnavi.R, and coordinated by Mr.Arun Kumar.R, NSS Coordinators, T.John College, we are glad that Principal and Management for their support for making this activity a success.
