Essential Skills and Career Options


The Skill Development Centre of T. John College arranged a guest lecture on “Essential Skills and Career Options ”  on 16th March 2019 for the final semester students of BBA and BCA department. The guest speaker was Mr. Adarsh Kumar, Vice President- Information Technologies, Meta-I Technologies. Mr. Kumar has over  20 years of experience in software and software product sales. An engineering graduate from Mangalore University, he started his career in 1997. He holds additional qualifications of Masters of Business Administration- Quality and is also a Certified Six Sigma Green Belt Professional. He is a professional toastmaster and is an active member of Business Network International at Bangalore.

Mr. Kumar addressed the students about various sift skills that the students need to build to be able to bridge the gap between industry requirement and student skill set.  He emphasized on the need to develop the  skill of information interchange through communication and the importance of working backwards to reach the goal. He also discussed the importance of commitment and integrity of character- essential characteristics that are important in today’s cut-throat competitive environment.

Mr. Kumar enlightened the students about the essential hard skills required to concentrate on achieving and sustaining a good placement offer. He discussed the importance of Big data and the career options available to BCA and BBA students related to the same.

It was an enlightening session for the students as they were able to discuss the alternate career options and essential courses that they can focus on.
