WORLD WATER DAY 2021: 22-03-2021

On occasion of WORLD WATER DAY, held on 22nd March 2021, BA Department organised an assembly to create awareness on Value of water by safeguarding water effectively for everyone. The Assembly began with a Sanskrit prayer on water by Dr. Geetha Bhat, Asst. Professor BA Dept, followed by a talk by Mr. Vijay Kumar, Asst. Professor of Psychology, BA Dept. He spoke about the importance of water conservation. Ms. Kalpana K, Asst. Professor of Language, BA Dept spoke about the facts of water as a resource.


“Is there an Indian Way of Thinking?”: 28-01-2021

With the vision to expose the students of BA JEP to various thought processes of great writers and thinkers, an online Guest Lecture was planned by Ms. Neelanjana Bose, HOD BA Department on the topic “Is there an Indian way of thinking?” The Guest Lecture was conducted on the 28th of January 2021 from 12 pm to 1 pm, through the ZOOM platform.


Knowledge Sharing Sessions: 17-06-2020

The session began with a live session on “Mindful Breathing Technique” conducted by Mrs. Neelanjana Bose, HoD and Faculty of BA Journalism Studies, as a preface to the concept of MINDFULNESS. Mindfulness is the basic ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we are doing, and not overly reactive or overwhelmed by what is going on around us.


Basic Yoga Techniques and Meditative Practices: 13-06-2020

The session was conducted by Ms Deedeepya Bhavani Chamarathy, who is a Hatha Yoga Practitioner and a member of the prestigious Isha Foundation. She is a soft skills trainer and a Meditation specialist. There were more than hundred participants from different background. The session began with a lot of information about Yoga and the myths related to it. Ms Bhavani beautifully discussed the myths we have in mind about the concept of Yoga and Meditation. She explained that just as the law of gravity cannot be marked as being Christian because it evolved in the West. Similarly, Yoga cannot be tagged as being associated to Hinduism because it evolved in India. The concept of Meditation was explained by Ms Bhavani as “Meditation is not an act but it is a quality.” It is not an act to be performed but a quality to be cultivated.


Knowledge sharing session of BA & Languages Department: 30-05-2020

On 30 th May 2020, BA & Languages Department had a Knowledge sharing session in TJC. Three topics were presented. The Topic presented by Ms Neelanjana Bose was Neuro Linguistic Programming, which is a pseudo- scientific approach to communication, personal development and psychotherapy. The session began with a live demo of NLP technique.


Matri Bhasa Divas Celebrations : 28-02-2020

On 28th Of February 2020 “ Maatri Bhasa Divas” was celebrated in T John College ( TJC) with great enthusiasm. A SONG COMPETITION was organized by the BA & Languages Department of TJC, to mark the mother tongue day. The Program began with ‘Lighting of the Lamp ‘ by the Principal of TJC, Sister Rose Mary ,who was welcomed by Surya (4th BA). This was followed by an invocation song by Navya,BA 4th sem .


Certified Workshop on Counselling Psychology: 05-11-2019

The department of BA JEP, T.John College organised a two day certified value added program on Counselling Psychology on 5 and 6th November 2019. The workshop was conducted by The Mind Research Foundation, 2283, 14 A Main, Indiranagar Bangalore, Karnataka. (http://themindresearchfoundation.org/). This workshop provided an overview of the Counselling profession in India, including its development and its current status. It gave an insight and understanding of the counsellor's roles within evolving practice environments and across the spectrum of the field of counselling Psychology.


Industrial Visit to SVYASA , Yoga University : 18-10-2019

As per the club plan we had organized an Industrial Visit to SVYSA Yoga University, Jigani, Bangalore on the 18th of October 2019. The students of yoga club and BAJEP visited SVYASA, Yoga University. The students were taken on a campus tour followed by a session on “How yoga can help students improve their mental health and cope up with stressful situations”.


KANNADA GUEST LECTURE : 18-10-2019

A guest lecture in Kannada was organized by Department Of Languages on October 18th 2019. The talk was given by Dr. Shantaraju, M.A ,Ph.D,Asst Professor , St. Francis de sales College.


Hindi Divas Celebration: 14-09-2019

The Department of Languages ,T.John College, celebrated the Hindi Divas on 14th September 2019. Rev.Sr. Rose Mary Ballappa , Principal , T.John College inaugurated the session by lighting the lamp. Ms. Renu Kukreti, Assistant Professor in Hindi and Ms. Mandvi, Assistant Professor in Hindi were present on the occasion. Prof. Renu, welcomed the gathering and the students compered the function which saw enthusiastic. Participants took part in essay writing , quiz, poetry and Shayari competitions and anthakshari. Students are motivated to give speech , kabir Das ki dohey. Hindi Divas program ended with national anthem .
