Mr. Tom Iype Joseph student from T.John College, Department of hotel management participated in XENIA-2020 National College Fest at FHMCT, Ramaiah University, Bangalore and won 1st prize in photography competition held on 7th March 2020.


Department of Hotel Management, T John College organized a guest lecture for 4th and 6th semester students on 28-02-2020. The speaker of the day was Ms. Vera Champagne, MIHM coordinator and Clinical Professor in Human Resources at Les Roches. Les Roches serves up academic rigor with a twist of innovation and entrepreneurship. The topic of the day was “Leadership Skills and Styles”. Ms. Vera Champagne spoke on how to convey a vision of an organization, motivate teams and individuals, and how to set out a strategy that others will follow to inspire groups to work towards a common goal. The talk also covered techniques, methods, case studies, and real-life examples and how an effective leadership skill turns an organization around. The guest lecture was very informative for the students and it was interactive.


Hotel management students of 8th semester had an industrial visit to IBIS, Hosur road on 28-02-2020 & 29-02-2020. IBIS is a vibrant economy hotel. This modern hotel with bright interiors welcomes both new-age business and leisure travellers. The hotel features 185 contemporary rooms featuring Sweet Bed, Wi-Fi, multi-cuisine dining, 24x7 gymnasium, currency exchange and meeting spaces for up to 90 guests. The training manager Ms.Prathiba Jaiswal took the students around the property and explained the functions of each department. The students were happy with the concept of IBISM followed in the hotels and they clarified their queries during the visit. The session was interactive and the student were able to gain lot of knowledge.

MENU PLANNING in Food and Beverage service Industry: 27-02-2020

T.John College - Department of Hotel Management organized a Guest lecture on the topic “MENU PLANNING in Food and Beverage service Industry” on 27/02/2020 for all 2nd semester students. The Assistant Food and Beverage Service Manager Mr. Sukumar Shetty from Hotel Sheraton Grand, Bangalore addressed the students about the importance of menu planning and classification of menu. He also emphasized on the knowledge a banquet manager and on how the restaurant manger should have to generate a better revenue. This session was very interactive and it involved student to do role-plays and required debates. The guest talk assisted the students to plan their own menu for restaurant and hotels. The outcome of the guest lecture was fruitful and rewarding.


T.John College - Department of hotel management organised Guest lecture titled “Technological advances in Food and Beverage service Industry” on 25/02/2020 for all 8th semester students.

Industrial visit to “Radison Blu, Bangalore”: 15-02-2020

The students of 6th Semester BHM visited Radisson blu, Bangalore. Radisson Blu is an international chain of hotels operated by Radisson Hotels. With roots dating back to the 1960s, the Radisson Blu brand name came into existence in 2009 with a rebranding from Radisson SAS. The hotel is a confluence of leisure and business, making it the perfect choice for business travellers and guests looking for unrivalled comfort. With 218 rooms across six categories as well as five dining options await guests at the hotel including Chinese and Thai food at Shao and traditional Indian cuisine at Saffron.The students got an insight regarding internal operations of the hotel. The session was very interesting and informative.


T. John College, Department of Hotel Management organized a Pre-placement talk on 12/02/2020 for the current 4th and 8th semester students. The session speaker was Mr. Mriganka Chakraborty, Head of operations and Development-India. The RED FORD provides internship and placement for students in Mauritius. The session was interactive and gave a lot of insights to our students on how to get a permit to work in Mauritius.

AIMS school of Hospitality : 07-02-2020

Students from T.John College, Department of Hotel Management participated in “AIMS Hospitality Week 2020”. The Competition was held at AIMS school of Hospitality and Tourism from 1st to 7th February. Our students won prizes in the following events.
