Housekeeping –Emerging trends in designing interiors of Hotel by Mr. Nishant Saxsena: 26-11-2021

The Department of Hotel Management – T. John College organized a guest talk (Webinar) on 26-11-2021 for the current 1st and 3rd semester students. The speaker for the day was Mr. Nishant Saxsena, Corporate EHK at Sripada Hotels& Resorts. The topic for the day was “Emerging trends in designing interiors of Hotel”. Mr Nishant said that the singular focus now in hotels in general and particularly new ones is being eco-friendly. Thus, for example, that there is maximum natural lighting and the emphasis is on the ease of functioning for the guest. He spoke about smart lobbies. The hotel lobby has become a hybrid model that the business center, coffee shop, meeting facility, conference rooms and waiting area all in one place. He mentioned on how the room sizes has become smaller in business hotels with foldable furniture and all guest room amenities being placed in one place. The guest nowadays does not expect ornate decorations rather would do with simple lines as a part of the appearance. Hotels have multi-purpose venues that cater for all events.


T. John College, Department of Hotel Management organized a Pre-placement talk on 24/11/2021 for the current 7th semester students. The session speaker was Mr. Prateek Poojary, Head of L&D at Verzeo. Mr. Prateek Poojary, spoke about the new venture called “Chef on Dial”. The “Chef on Dial” is a new take-off and is looking for candidates with the right skills and experience who can exhibit creativity in culinary.

Guest Talk - Front Office - Importance of travel and tourism in hotel industry by. Dr. Bhargavi.: 18-11-2021

The Department of Hotel Management – T. John College organized a guest talk (Webinar) on 18-11-2021 for the current 1st semester students. The speaker for the day was Dr. Bhargavi, Manager at International Travel House ltd, at Hotel ITC Grand Chola, Chennai. The topic for the day was “Importance of travel and tourism in hotel industry”. Dr. Bhargavi, spoke about the future of travel industry, the trends that define hospitality post-COVID-19 and also explained on how the concepts of travel and tourism are closely linked. Dr. Bhargavi also explained the various sectors and companies within the Travel and Tourism Industry.

Hotel Management celebrated ALOHA NOVATO : 30-10-2021

T.John College, Department of Hotel Management, celebrated Rookies day on October 30th 2021 at the college church auditorium. The venue was decorated by the seniors for the important day and the new students were welcomed to the BHM family. The program started with a welcome speech by our beloved Principal, Sr. Rose Mary and followed by HOD Mr. Siby Mathew who addressed the gathering and thanked the management for the exceptional support.

Importance of housekeeping in Hotels: 26-10-2021

Department of Hotel Management, T John College organized a guest lecture on 26-10-2021 for the 1st-semester students. The speaker of the day was Ms. Sruti Sahoo, Deputy Housekeeper, The Oberoi Bangalore. She has completed the Management Training program from - The Oberoi Center of Learning and Development (OCLD).


Mr. Joycin J, alumni of T. John College, Department of Hotel Management 2016-2020 Batch visited the current 1st semester students on 25th October 2021. Mr. Joycin works for Hilton Dubai in Food and Beverage Service department. Mr. Joycin J, spoke about the future of the hospitality sector post COVID-19 and also emphasized on job opportunities and career growth in Hilton Hotels & Resorts. The students found this session very informative and interactive.

Bakery Workshop by Chef Pratyay Keny: 23-10-2021

T. John College- Department of Hotel Management conducted a Demo Bakery Workshop for the final year BHM students. The workshop was conducted by Chef Pratyay Keny, Pastry Chef at Academy of Pastry & Culinary Arts. The workshop began with a brief talk, where Chef discussed on how to build a successful career in the field of bakery. He also explained several related concepts including, decoration, baking tools and kitchen equipment, ingredient choices, cake baking, dough and fillings.


Karnataka State Higher Education Council had conducted a programme on NEP Curriculum framing for Hotel Management Colleges in Karnataka. Mr. Siby Mathew & Mr. Paul P Jose of BHM department attended the programme on 22/10/2021.The programme was hosted by Dr. Tejaswini K, Special Officer at KSHEC. Delegates from Taj Hotels and other hotel management colleges also participated in the programme. The Session threw light on creating a curriculum based on the current Industry requirements.

Mr. Sreerag P S got placed in Radisson Hotel as a Guest Service Associate. Radisson Hotels is an international hotel chain headquartered in the United States.
