PG-Orientation Programme- MCA & M. Com: 10-01-2022

The PG Orientation Programme of Batch 2021-2023 for the course of MCA and M.Com has been scheduled on 10th and 11th January 2022. Total 31 students have attended the orientation programme. The Agenda/Itinerary of the Programme is listed below on date on 10th January as common orientation. The orientation started at 9:30AM on Google Meet Platform with welcome speech by Dr. Monica, Department of Commerce. Prayer and Supplication was led by Dr. Felcy Judith, Department of Computer Application.

Adhisthana Report -2021: 30-10-2021

The second and final year students of BCAorganized “Adhisthana 2021” on 30 October to welcome the Batch of 2021. The purpose of organizing the function was to make every new student feel connected as an integral part of the TJC family and be ready to take on the challenges of the year ahead. Jovial smiles and high spirits marked the welcome party for the new students. The theme of the party was “Dress your best”, making the set-up at the venue look bright and colourful. The party was organised in B- block. It manifested youth and enthusiasm at its best.

Guest Lecture on “PHP and MYSQL”: 22-05-2021

The Department of Computer Applications organized a guest lecture for all BCA and MCA students through MS Team. Dr. FelcyJuidth, HoD, Department of Computer Applications, T. John college formally welcomed the Speaker, faculties, and students. The session started at 2:00pm by the Guest speaker Mr. Thomas Jebadurai, Senior software engineer, iBridge, Bangalore on the topic “PHP and MYSQL”. Mr Thomas has given overview of PHP basics and demonstrated how to create sample webpage and connect with database. He inspired the students and teachers by making them understand about the importance of the topic.

One Day FDP on “Data Analytics using R” on 30th May, 2020 The Department of Computer Applications conducted an online one day FDP on “Data Analytics using R” on 30th May, 2020. The program was registered in Google Meet App. The session’s speaker was Dr. Janani Selvaraj, Data Analyst from Trichy.

Celebrate what is right with world: 11-03-2020

The department of computer applications conducted a guest lecture on “Celebrate What’s Right with the World”, for all the BCA and MCA students .The honourable guest speaker was our beloved principal Sr. Rose Mary Balappa. The program started with a prayer and went on with a questionnaire where the students were asked to answer the question on “What do You Celebrate in Life?” Students came out with various responses. The best response was when a student said that she celebrates every moment of her life.

Guest Lecture on TURING MACHINE & AUTOMATA THEORY: 24-02-2020

The Dept. of Computer Applications conducted a guest talk on “TURING MACHINE & AUTOMATA THEORY” on 24th Feb, 2020. The audience were the final year BCA students. The guest speaker was Ms. Kohila Kanakalakshmi, Asst Prof, Dayanand Sagar College. She has authored a book under skyward publications on the same subject and is one of the members in preparing question paper for the Bangalore University exams. She spoke on the applications of the Turing Machine and Finite Automata, Working of the TM and important questions that may appear in the university exams. The outcome of this session was that students understood that Turing machines finds its applications in algorithmic information theory and complexity studies, software testing, high performance computing, machine learning, software engineering, computer networks and evolutionary computations.

Guest Lecture: 15-02-2020

The Dept of Computer Applications in association with the Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Study Centre held a guest lecture on the 15th of February,2020. The event was graced by the honourable principal Sister Rose Mary Balappa. She lead the event with prayer and introduction about Dr. Ambedker. She explained about Ambedkar who was an Indian jurist, politician, economist, and social reformer. He fought for social discrimination towards the untouchables. He was also an independent India's first law and justice minister, the major architect of the Constitution of India. Then Sister emphasized not just about the power of education but also 3 key life lessons everyone can learn from Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.

Guest Lecture: 15-02-2020

The Department of Computer Applications in association with the Buddha Study Centre conducted a guest lecture on the 15th of February, 2020. The honourable Principal Sister Rose Mary Balappa graced the event with prayer and introduction about Buddha (Siddhartha Gautama). She explained about Buddha, who was a teacher, philosopher and a spiritual leader. He is considered the founder of Buddhism. He lived and taught in the religion around the border of modern-day Nepal and India between 6th to 4th century B.C. Then Sister explained how Siddhartha Gautama spent a fateful night in deep meditation beneath a tree. During his meditation, all of the answers he had been seeking became clear, and he achieved full awareness, thereby becoming Buddha.

Guest Lecture on Data Science : 21-01-2020

The Dept of Computer Applications arranged a guest talk on Data Science on 21st Jan, 2020 for the 6th Sem BCA students by Mr. Aman Alok, a young entrepreneur and academician from Starcom Information Technology Limited and Mr. Azhar Ullah Khan from the House of Engineering. The talk was on Data science, Data analytics and the importance of them in the real world. Many real-time examples were given so that the students understand the applications better. They also covered topics like the latest softwares used in corporate and how automation is resulting in reduction of jobs. This brought a slight seriousness among the students. The students were really motivated by the lecture and was an interactive one. The outcome of this programme 1. The students understood what Data Science and Data Analytics are and how they are being used in the real world applications. 2. Job opportunities regarding the same.
