Consortium on Modern tools and techniques for drug design and discovery-A paradigm shift: 26-03-2022

T.John College of Pharmacy has organized a one day national level online conference from the Department of Pharmaceutical chemistry on “Consortium on Modern tools and techniques for drug design and discovery-A paradigm shift” on 26/03/2022. The session started with the Welcome address by our esteemed Principal, Dr.Vineeth Chandy, followed by the inagural Address by Dr.V. Ravichandran, Director, NIPER-Kolkata and NIPER-Hijapur. The session started with the first speaker, Dr. Swapan Kumar Samanta, Lead investigator, Discovery chemistry, Syngene, Hyderabad with the topic on Drug Discovery-An Overview, followed by Dr. Santosh S Chhajed, Professor, Mumbai Educational Trust’s Institute of Pharmacy, Bhujbal Knowledge city on the topic of Molecular docking approach in designing of novel medicinal agents. Dr. Prashanta, CN, Assistant Professor, who was the third and the last speaker of the conference was from the Department of Biotechnology, Reva University, Bangalore delivered the lecture on the topic of Pharmacokinetic and regulatory pathways of drug discovery and development. About 610 registrations done in the conference which includes students, faculty, professionals from company and hospitals across India and also from abroad. The conference also had e-poster presentation and all the presenter presented very well. Total presenters for the conference was 26, of which three participants were selected for the Best Participation. They were Ms. NVL Sirisha Mulukuri, (Presenter no. 6), Ms. K. Dhunmati (Presenter No. 19) and Ms. S.Rekha (Presenter no. 11). Finally, the conference concluded with vote of thanks by Dr.D. Visagaperumal, Professor and Head, Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry.


EYE CAMP REPORT: 23-03-2022

As a part of heath awareness, an eye screening camp was organized at T. John College of Pharmacy on 23rd of March 2022 from 10.00am to 4.00pm by the Drug Information Center, headed by Dr. Diana George. A team of 7 members along with an Ophthalmologist, Dr. Amruta from Narayana Nethralaya, conducted the screening. The students were addressed about the importance of eye hygiene, eye donation and cataract surgeries. Around 100 students took part in the session.

The screening started by 10.30 am and nearly 140 members were tested which included the students, teaching staff, non-teaching staff, house-keeping staff, drivers of T. John Group of Institutions.

International Women’s Day Celebration 2022: 08-03-2022

T. John College of Pharmacy celebrated International Women's Day on 8th March 2022, organized by Drug Information Center, TJCP with the theme “Women of Tomorrow”. The event was presided by Dr. Kemparaju, Campus Director, TJGI and Dr. Vineeth Chandy, Principal, TJCP. On this occasion, a guest lecture was delivered by Dr. Gaana Sreenivas from Rainbow Hospitals, on the topic “Cervical Cancer’, to all the girl students of TJCP, followed by interactive session. Class-wise E-Poster, Extempore and Street Play competitions were also conducted which was judged by faculty members of TJCP. Nearly 250 students attended and actively participated in the above events.

The students of Pharmacy attended guest talk on 28th February 2022 by Mr. SRIVATSA RAO, General Manager from Micro Labs Limited. Topic Regulatory Affairs. Basics of Regulatory, Indian Drug Regulatory, Generics & Innovators were discussed. The talk was organized by Ms. SUPRIYA .R
