Ms.Monica, Faculty Department of Commerce, T. John College successfully completed her Ph.D Viva- Voce examination under the guidance of Dr. R. Sarvamangala, Professor on the topic “A Study on Employee Competency Mapping in select Banks operating in Bangalore” on 28.7.2021, Wednesday at 2:00 PM in Department of Commerce, Jnana Bharathi campus, Bangalore University-560056.


The speaker emphasized more on the steps involved in academic research as a building blocks of the academic research, according to the speaker there is more significance role for the selection of research article for reading and this plays an important role in productive research, speaker also insisted that once the research articles are read and the necessary research activities are conducted the next step is to write an article for which the guidelines was discussed in brief by the speaker which included inclusion of Data interpretation, new findings, materials / methods, conclusion etc.

Bizchamp: 11-07-2021

Mr.Shervyn Fernandez, Mr.Narasimha Reddy of B.Com VI Semester participated in BizChamp Premier League,half day Business Simulation Hackathon Held on Sunday 11th July 2021.The Bizchamp event was a business hackathon and an interactive learning event that was conducted by Ranjani Shankara and her team of IIMB alumni. It aimed to teach students on how to make proper financial decisions by means of a simulation program. The event was a fun and highly educative approach. Participants were made CEO's for a day and their goal was to learn how to position themselves in the market while competing against AI and also fellow students. The duration of the event was from 9 AM to 2 PM. Participants had a special invitation message from Chetan Bhagat and had other guest lectures.

On 10.07.2021, the Department of Commerce in association with IIC conducted a guest lecture on “Innovative Approaches to developing a new Business” for UG & PG students. The guest speaker was Ms. Fatin, Research scholar, Department of Commerce, Bangalore University, Bangalore.

Investment Awareness and Personal Financial Planning: 05-07-2021

On 5.07.2021, Department of Commerce in association with IQAC conducted a guest lecture on “Investment Awareness and Personal Financial Planning” under SEBI banner for UG & PG students. The programme is co–ordinated by Ms. Akshatha, Assistant Professor in Department of Commerce. The guest speaker was Ms.Rekha Ramanthan, qualified BFSI Trainer for all major Banks.

Guest Lecture on “No Excel to Know Excel”: 26-06-2021

On 26.06.2021, Department of Commerce in association with IQAC conducted a guest lecture on “No Excel to Know Excel” for UG & PG students. The guest speaker was Dr. Kanika Sachdeva, Associate Professor, School of Business, Sushant University, Gurgaon. The session started with the warm welcome of the speaker by Ms. Kshithi, student of MCOM II Semester. The speaker started the talk with the basics of Excel and various shortcuts which makes the usage of MS Excel handy and easier.

Ms. Priyanka Roy Chowdhury, a trained Healthcare Management turned into an Academician and Trainer with over 13 years of experience in Healthcare Operations and Quality Management. She is a Green Belt Six Sigma from MSME. A certified Internal Auditor for NABH. She is involved in curriculum development and training module development based on various accreditation requirements, coordinator for hospital wide training programme in large organizations. An SME (Subject Matter Expert) and Faculty for prestigious online education portals. Currently working as an Assistant Professor: Hospital Administration @ St. John’s Medical College from August 2018. She has been also serving as the Training and Development Coordinator for the 1500 bed NABH accredited Medical College Hospital.

She has been invited as an expert for Open defense in Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth. She holds ‘A’ grade certified in “Government Diploma in Co-operation and Accountancy” (GDCA) examination, conducted by Maharashtra State Board.
