T. John Institute of Technology
Department of Computer Science & Engineering
Overview
The Department of Computer Science is affiliated with T John Institute of Technology. A wide variety of exciting professional and academic opportunities exist for graduates of computer science including software engineering, computer Organization, modeling, game design, computer graphics, robotics, artificial intelligence, internet systems and technology, security, hardware development and related fields.
Computer Science Under Grads learn about algorithms, data structures, programming languages, scientific computing, systems, and theory, and just a few of the areas they can explore are artificial intelligence, Computer Organization, computer graphics, computer vision, databases, and networks.
The program for Computer Science Undergrads is broad and rigorous, but it is structured in a way that supports in-depth study of outside areas. Intelligent course selection can set the stage for graduate study or employment in any technical or professional area, including such areas as business, law, or medicine. With the advisor, the computer science major is expected to put together a coherent program of study that supports career objectives and is true to the aims of a liberal education.

Computer Science Computing Facilities
T John institute of Technology's Department of Computer Science has hundreds of PC/workstations running a variety of operating systems including Linux, Microsoft Windows. Every room in the CS building is wired with multiple Category 5/5e/6 UTP ports, single-mode fiber, multimode fiber, and RG6 coaxial cable. Networking is supported by a high-speed core switch with an aggregate switching bandwidth of 300 Gb/sec. Typically, servers are connected via gigabit Ethernet and user PC/workstations are connected via switched 10/100/1000 Mb/sec Ethernet.
The department supports remote users via the Internet and Leasedline. The entire building and some outlying areas are covered by the department's 802.11a/b/g Wireless network. The department infrastructure and users are protected by firewalls, e-mail virus/spam scanners, and an IDS system. The public computing facilities provide access to Sun Solaris (Sparc) and Linux (x86) architectures. Public printers are available on each floor. The department has approximately 800 users that share data center with multiple servers and blade PC servers. Additional to the existing infrastructure the department also boosts of latest Thin client technology with Blade PC server which are power efficient and security easy systems with centralized monitoring and maintenance.
The department has 24/7/365 power supply with 60KVA APC UPS with sealed maintenance free batteries.
Faculty, staff, and graduate student computer accounts in the Computer Science Department are not limited to a single machine. A user's files are available to all these machines through the use of NFS (Network File System) software, so it is unnecessary to move files from one computer to another to access them.
