INAUGURATION OF PEGASUS 08
Department of Computer Science
The Department of Computer Science of T.John College inaugurated
the symposium as a part of the Inter-Collegiate fest “Pegasus
08”. Dr.Seema Goel, Principal, T.John College delivered
the welcome address. During her address she stressed on the importance
of the IT industry which propels improvisation and innovation
in every sphere of activity. She also stated that the software
professionals should update and upgrade themselves in this ever
changing cyber age. The Chief Guest, Dr. Vaman, Retired Professor
from the Department of Statistics, Bangalore University and an
erudite scholar delivered the keynote address. He emphasized that
the statistical computingis the buzz word of the day. He also
gave a statistical account on the sheer volume and application
of statistics in different realms of activities. Vice Principal,
Ms. Shikha Tiwari, College Coordinator Prof. Srinivasa Prasad
and Ms. Shanthi Mahesh, Head, Department of Computer Sciences
were also present during the inauguration.
There were four prominent speakers for the Symposium. The first
speaker of the day was Mr. Nawas Pasha, Consultant, Ostfold Softwares.
His talk centered on “Performance Engineering”. He
elaborated on how to increase the speed and performance of the
IT sector, by focusing on the performance of the Computer Systems
in Boeing 787. The next speaker Mr. Muralidhara, Chairman, MCA
Department, Bangalore University described the courses offered
in the field of Computer Science and he encouraged the students
to upgrade their academic performance. He rendered specific guidelines
to achieve their goals.
Mr. Ashish Gupta, Engineering Manager, Honey Well, conducted a
lively and an interactive session on “IT as Profession:
Industry Perspective”. He enlightened the students on the
various career opportunities in the field of Computer Technology.
The prolific growth and stability of the IT industry in India
was stressed upon. He also spoke on the progress of the MNCs in
India and the impact of the same on the economy of the country.
Mr.Binu Orakkan, Programme Manager, Honey Well spoke on “Software
System Evolution”. His talk revolved around programming,
designing and architecture of software and the eight laws of software
evolution. Pegasus came to a close with the prize distribution
followed by an entertaining cultural programme.
