Second Prize in Paper Presentation for our M.Com III semester students

Chandrababu V and Nithya N, two students of M.Com III semester participated in the Students Seminar “Akraya Sammantrana 2017” organised by V.E.T First Grade College on 8th November 2017 and were adjudged the second best paper presenters.

Their paper was titled “A study on Corporate Restructuring”. The abstract of the paper is as follows:

Corporate restructuring can be driven by a need for change in the organization structure or business model of a company, or it can be driven by the necessity to make financial adjustments to its assets and liabilities frequently, and portfolio restructuring. Companies restructure for a variety of reasons. Just as there are many reasons companies might restructure, there are many benefits through corporate strategy, such as reviving a declining business, increasing a company’s value, and preparing it for sale or transfer to the next generation, other benefits with the help of corporate strategy involve gaining a competitive advantage, such as helping a company position itself for a growth, allowing for the addition of new accounts or enabling expansion into other geographical areas. Two words, however, sum up the overall benefits of corporate restructuring: survival and success. Often companies do not allow enough time for planning and implementing the restructure. A restructuring involves details concerning vendors and consumers, shareholders and financial relationships, employees and inventory, quality control and environmental impact, equipment and technology, and management and marketing. All of these areas need careful thought and consideration to determine how company restructuring and portfolio restructuring will affect each one.

KEYWORDS: Corporate restructuring, portfolio restructuring, corporate strategy.

Hearty congratulations to our students. T.John College is proud of their achievements.
