Industrial Visit to The Hindu – NEWS paper Production Unit by TJC- BBA Students

The Hindu is distinguished for its comprehensive coverage of national and international political news and for its emphasis on accuracy and balanced coverage. Although it is published in a provincial capital, The Hindu’s reportage and editorials are read carefully and taken seriously in the national capital. Established in 1878 as a weekly, The Hindu became a daily in 1889.

The Hindu printing press located in the Bomsandra Industrial Area, Bengaluru, caters to the entire city of Bangalore, neighbouring cities & towns and up to Anantpur in Andhra Pradesh and Krishnagiri in Tamil Nadu.

The students of BBA IIIrd semester had the opportunity to visit the printing press of The Hindu newspaper on October 26th, 2017. The students were provided a guided tour that explained the intricacies of the newspaper printing business.  Right from the ‘Computer to plate’ process, to printing, cutting and folding, and packaging, the students were enlightened about the workflow process of the printing business.

Our students also got the opportunity to view first-hand the equipment and machinery used in the printing process and understand the requirements of maintenance and the safety guidelines.

The inputs provided by Mr. Arun Kumar, Senior Engineer were extremely insightful and provided an excellent overview to the students about the newspaper printing industry and the various requirements of the industry.
