Orientation of the new batch at Department of Management Studies, T John College has always been a vivacious event as it marks the introduction of the fresh talent into the TJC family. A 3- day Orientation program for the new entrants of MBA students was held from 21stSept to 23rd Sept 2017.

Day 1:

The first day was marked by an unique Mind Mapping exercise to understand students’ expectations from the Management program as well as Individual perspectives about their career.This was administered through a Student Need Assessment Questionnaire understanding their strengths & areas of improvement in given areas . Thereafter, a Guest lecture was organized for the students. The Guest speaker, Ms. Manjula, General Manager, Learning Services,Teamlease, graced the session. Having around 18 years of professional experience in the IT &Education industry, she is involved in skill development activities and training students in Central & State level Projects. Shestressed upon the importance of being a Doer rather than a Dreamer, the  need of developing Multiple Intelligence among students and how they can enhance their employability by taking up various projects. This was followed by a session on ‘A Practical approach towards solving Case studies by Dr. TruptiDandekar. Students learnt the skill of solving case studies through caselets.

Day 2:

The second day was marked by the whole-day workshop on ‘Leadership’, ‘Attitude’&‘Team Building’ activities. In-house Faculty members, Prof.Ravi Kumar, Prof. Srinivasa Prasad & Prof. Sonia Singh conducted the sessions and engaged the rapt attention of students through various management games, activities, inspirational videos and presentations and shared their rich experiences with the students. A Club Overview session was also held by respective Club Incharge who briefed on the plan & activities of the club to be held in the semester. A total of nine clubs were identified for Management students with an objective to build life skills among them– Manager’s Club, Entrepreneurship Club, Social service Club, Spiritual Club, Quality Circle Club, Music & Dance Club,Sports Club, Event Management Club & Toastmasters Club.

Day 3 :

The third day of the Orientation programme constituted a General Assessment comprising of Aptitude & General knowledge questions taken up by all the students of Management followed by an Industrial Visit to Dairy Classic Icecreams Factory. Students carried with themselves a great learning experience through various practical & outbound sessions.

The three day long Orientation programme was organized by the Course Co-ordinatorProf.Sonia Singh with the support of Prof.Gopan GS, HOD & vision of Dr. NilanjanaBasu,Executive Director,Dept of Management Studies, TJC.
