The fashion show was organized by the Department of Fashion and Apparel Design, T. John College on 27th February, 2016. It was a ‘Portfolio Presentation’ of the VI semester students from B.Sc. Fashion and Apparel Design. The talent that was showcased in the show was impressive. The judges for the show were Mr. Ashwath N Hariskar, International author-Fashion expert, Ms. Maya Pradeep, Creative Director- Haute couture, Ms. Megha, Fashion designer from Lolly togs and Ms.Mounika Rakesh, Design manager from Zovi.com.

Industrial Visit to Kidwai Memorial Cancer Institute , Bio Sc Dept. TJC: 24-02-2016

Students of department of Biosciences along with Dr. Nilanjana Basu visited the Kidwai Memorial Cancer Institute on 24th February 2016. They looked at the various facilities at the cancer center and did a detailed visit of the Pathology and cytology unit of the Cancer Centre. Students for the first time actually saw some preserved samples of tumors obtained from patient samples.

Claret Conference 2016: 22-02-2016

St. Claret’s College, Jalahalli, Bengaluru conducted a national level one day conference for students of B. A. Optional English and M. A. [English] on 22nd February, 2016. The theme for the conference was “Texts-Co-Texts-Pre Texts and Contexts –Making Connections”. The students of 4th semester and 6th semester BA-JEP represented T. John College at the conference. The inaugural session was followed by the keynote address of Dr. Prakrithi H. N. [HoD of P.G Studies (English), Jain University] after which the paper presentations were conducted. Anjali P. Perumayan of 4th semester BA–JEP presented her paper on “A Feminist Analysis of John Donne’s Selected Poems” which was written on the basis of the research conducted under the guidance of Dr. Panchali Mukherjee [HoD of Languages, T. John College]. The conference was a platform for the students to learn about a variety of research being done in the field of English literature and also about the research methodology related to the field.

TJC Club Activates on 19th Feb 2016: 19-02-2016

Club activities were conducted in full swing on 19th February at TJC. Most of the clubs were in the midst of preparing for the upcoming college fest, Blaze 2016.Fundraising events like Run Machine, Nail art,Mehndi designing and gaming competitions were organized by the sports club, gardening club and computer club respectively. The students of the literary club finalized the format of Quiz and creative writing competition, the students in the Manager’s club brainstormed over their events Best Manager and creative ads, Coaching sessions were held in the other disciplines of the sports club, while the students of the culinary club learnt to prepare kathi rolls, Art & Craft club began preparations for the fashion show competition to be organized by them, and the culture club held the first screening for onstage events for Blaze-2016.

A national conference on emerging trends and fields in psychology: 18-02-2016

A national conference on emerging trends and fields in psychology was conducted by SDM College in Ujjire dharmasthala, Karnataka. The conference was held on 18th 19th 20th of February. Ms. Pavithra.R Asst. professor in psychology and Ms. Raksha.B, 2nd semester BA student represented T.John College at the conference. Many eminent speakers were present at the conference all the three days. Research papers were presented by students, professors and research scholars. Ms Pavitra. R presented her paper titled ‘A study on personality types and to know the reason for choosing sectors among government and private employees ‘. Ms. Raksha.B and Ms.Pavithra R presented her paper titled ‘An exploratory study on the concept of Moksha and self from Advaita Vedanta and western Philosophy.’ This paper won the best paper award in the conference. Other competitions were also held and the conference ended with a valedictory ceremony.

Guest Lecture on “Career & personality development skills” by Veerapathran: 13-02-2016

A Guest lecture on 13th February 2016 was conducted by Fashion and Apparel Design department, T. John College, for II, IV & VI semester B Sc FAD on ‘Career development & personality development skills by Mr. Veerapathran. The lecture was very informative and insightful. Students got some idea to that how to develop the leadership skills, decision making, time management and also how to improve the communication skills.

2-Day Conference on Science, Technology & Productization - a means for growth: 05-02-2016

Students of final year M.Sc Biotechnology and Biochemistry attended 2 days conference on “Science, Technology & Productization- a means for growth” in Oxford College on 5th & 6th February 2015. The conference was sponsored by Department of Science and Technology, Government of Karnataka. In the conference students had an opportunity to listen to eminent speakers on various topics in biological Sciences which included Advances in Cancer diagnosis, Genomics in Drug Discovery and Advances in Bioinformatics.

A Conference in Psychology INSIGHT: 02-02-2016

The conference was held on 2nd and 3rd of February 2016, on ‘Alternative Perspectives in Psychotherapy’. The prominent personalities and students related to the field from all over had participated in the conference. The conference started with the address of the Chief Guest Dr. Sangeetha Menon who is a Professor and a Lead Anchor at National Institute of Advanced Studies and Indian Institute of Science Campus, Bangalore. She delivered a very good lecture on Brain and the Core-Self: The Basis of Alternative Perspectives on Psychotherapies which discussed brain, self and consciousness as the central concepts in the discussion of alternate concepts in Psychotherapy.
