Students of –TJC-Department of Hotel Management had the first session of the workshop on wine tasting conducted by the Karnataka wine board(WEAT-Wine Education, and tasting) on 18th and 21st September-2016. The Session organized through Mr. Sandeep- Manager Store operation and Business Development from Madhuloka. They had 18 different types of wine from different countries and the students were explained about the various aspects of tasting of wine such as aroma, temperature, mouth feel and how to judge the different characteristics of a wine.
The Literary Club ‘SPARK’ of T.John College organised intercollegiate competitions as part of the ‘Hindi Saptha’ on 16th September 2016. The event had different colleges coming in and participating in the competitions. The main events held were Hindi Debate, Hindi Dumb Charades and Hindi Essay Writing. The program started at 10:30 am at BHM seminar hall.
Mr. Suhaib pasha an Alumni of BHM 2012-2016 Batch gave a talk on 15 September-2016 about the latest trends in sales and marketing in the hospitality Industry to the 1st semester students of BHM. Sale and marketing department one of the key operational areas of the hotel Industry .The students enjoyed the talk and it’s gave them a glimpse of the Sales and marketing department of the hospitality industry.
A guest lecture on Work culture in apparel industry was conducted on 15th of September 2016 by department of fashion & apparel design , T.John College. The students of I, III, V semester B.Sc FAD attended the guest lecture. Mr. Tejasvi , presently a student of NIFT , Chennai and has 1 year experience in industry. The lecture was very informative the students understood the working culture & the work flow of the industry.
On the 7th of September, the Dept. of Languages invited Alumnus Akshay Sidharth to conduct a seminar on the Production Phases of Film-Making. Mr. Akshay Sidharth is a 2015 BA (JEP) graduate of T. John College, and has recently concluded his P.G. studies from Christ University. He is now headed to the city of dreams, Mumbai, to pursue his interest and career in Film-Making. Students found it extremely inspiring and educative.
On the 6th of September, 2016 – The Dept. of Languages hosted Mr. G. V. Somashekhar at T. John College premises. Students from III and V semesters of BA(JEP) course were invited to the talk by him. Mr. Somashekhar is designated as one of Bangalore’s most senior Recording Engineer & Studio consultant. Based in Bangalore, he also balances roles as visiting faculty in some of the city’s premier institutions in Media and Communication.
The students of I, III & V semester visited Garment Technology Expo- 2016 on 27th August 2016. Garment Technology Expo’s flagship event, GTE, New Delhi is held in spring, annually. Starting in 2001 with 87 participants and managing 4700 visitors. The show covered all segments of the industry; right from the latest technology machines to machine spares & consumables; from infrastructure set-up to latest processes & systems; from raw materials to trimmings & embellishments; from logistics & packaging solutions to trade communication and documentation services. The purpose of Visit is to update themselves on new technologies, materials, the latest product launches and new innovations at GTE.
The students of 3rd Semester BHM of T.John College- Department of Hotel Management undertook an industrial visit to Modern Bread factory (HLL) located at Peenya Industrial Estate, Yeshwantpur on 25 August 2016.They were taken around by Executive Manager (production). The visit enables the students of experiencing mass production of various types of bread, buns, muffins etc (producing approximately 40,000 breads a day of 17 verities and other bread products )
Mr. Vijith Vijay Kumar, Deputy Manager-HR-Yum foods had delivered a motivational talk to the students of 1st Semester BHM students on the 19/08/2016, the Friday. He explained the future prospects of the Hotel Management Students with the Yum food brands like KFC, TACOBELL, and PIZZA HUT. A brief idea on the evening jobs and training programmes offered by them were also discussed. The massive operational procedures of Q.S.R (Quick Service Restaurants) were also discussed.
The students of the First semester BHM had an industrial exposure visit to The Park Hotel Bangalore on 19th of August 2016.Training Manager, Mr. Nihit Chandra welcomed us to the hotel and took us around the hotel. He showed us all the departments and its different outlets. Mr. Kumar Manish, the General Manager of the hotel addressed the students and wished them all the best for their future endeavors.
