Cake Mixing ceremony
Christmas is no fun without the traditional Christmas cake; and making this cake is not a quick, easy simple step. Preparations begin months in advance. The first step towards making the cake is the mixing process, formally called the ‘Cake Mixing Ceremony’, a ritual religiously followed the world over and said to be a harbinger of good tidings and happiness.
T. John College has maintained this beautiful tradition of Cake−Mixing ceremony over the years. This year, Christmas preparations started on 04 November, Wednesday with the mixing of ingredients and soaking them for Christmas cake. The mixing was done in a festive style in the Bakery Lab of the Hotel Management department in the presence of the Honourable Chairman of T. John Group of Institutions Dr. Thomas P. John, Staff and other dignitaries. An interesting array of fruits, nuts and spices went into a cauldron. Bottles of wine, rum and whisky were poured into the mix while a number of people with gloved hands waited around to knead the concoction.
The more to mix, the merrier the feat. Mr. Rajesh, Merchandising Manager of ‘Metro Cash-and-Carry’, Bangalore was the special guest of the day. The Chairman of T. John Group of Institutions, Dr. Thomas P. John inaugurated the Mixing Ceremony by kneading. The Campus Director Wg. Cdr ( Retd) P. Sambasivan and the Principal of T. John College Dr. Sister Flower Kommatam took lead in mixing nuts, fruits and spices and then the faculties and students joined in. Mixing was followed by cake and juice distribution to everyone.
Mr. Philip Machado, Director of BHM and Mr. Satish Khalkho, HOD of BHM, Staff & Students of BHM organized this colorful festive event.
