Blood Donation camp at T. John College
"It is when you give of yourself that you truly give" − Khalil Gibran
On March 4, 2009, the Lions Club of Bangalore and Victoria Hospital organized a Blood Donation Camp at T. John College that fell into the many social awareness programmes that the college conducts for the students and staff round the year. The event came under the umbrella of the T. John Group of Institutions.
The Chairman, Dr. Thomas P. John inaugurated the occasion at 10 am, accompanied by the Principal of T. John College, Dr. (sister) Flower Kommattam, and presented himself as the very first donor.
The pan-institutional response was phenomenal, with students and staff from all colleges across the campus gathering in large numbers at the camp to donate blood. It was recorded that there was a total of 275 student donors.
The blood donation camp was efficiently coordinated with ready refreshments distributed to donors to pep them up.
All it cost this collective altruism and humanitarian act was a little love.
