The department of psychiatric nursing conducted a one day workshop on "Psychopharmacology: A new path for psychiatric nursing" on April 6, 2011. The workshop started at 9 am, which was presided over by our Chairman Dr.Thomas.P.John, and other dignitaries were Prof. R. Sreevani Chief guest, (Retd) Wg. Cdr.P. Sambasivan, Campus director Mr. Joseph Vaseegaran, Administrative officer and P. Neelavathi, Principal T John College of Nursing.

Three resource persons were invited for this workshop.

  • ◊ Prof. R. Sreevani, MSc Nursing, HOD, Deprtment of psychiatric nursing, Sri Devaraj URS College of Nursing, Kolar, Bangalore.
  • ◊ Dr. Soumya Hegde, MBBS, DPM, MRCP (PSY), (UK), MMED, SCI (UK), CCT old age psy (UK), Consultant Geriatric Psychiatrist, Nightingale Medical Trust, Bnasavadi, Bangalore.
  • ◊ Dr. Sai Laxmi Gandhi, MSc (N), Ph.D., Asst.Professor, Department of Psychiatric Nursing, NIMHANS, Bangalore.

They all gave a detailed lecture on Psychopharmacology.

Nearly 13 nursing colleges participated in the workshop. The total numbers of participants from other colleges were 290 students and 14 staff. A quiz programme was organized at the end of of all sessions. Our students gave a music concert and a skit related with mental health. The Valedictory function was addressed by Dr. George Easaw, Principal, T. John College and he distributed the certificates of participation for the delegates.

The entire programme was interesting, useful and was successful one.
