Cultural Program for NAAC Visit
A visit by the esteemed NAAC team to our T. John Institute saw our students bring forth a cultural extravaganza showcasing their talent par excellence with finesse. The program commenced at 5:15pm in room SG2B with the invocation of a 2,000 year old form of classical dance, Bharatanatyam by Ms. Vandana (Bio Tech student). This was followed by diverse cultural programs showing off the myriad colours of ethnic diversity of students in T. John.
To start with a solo Sri Lankan dance was performed by Ms. Priyanka (5th Semester FAD student) that combined graceful movements of dance along with bursts of activity reflecting the complex rhythms of the musical instruments that played along side in the background.
It was followed by a Bengali Dance on Rabindra Sangeet presented by the talented duo of Ms. Subhashree (Journalism Student) and Ms. Ishita (Bio Tech Student). A classical sensation that crossed the boundaries of time and language yet managed to enthral the audience.
Next was the Rajasthani dance executed by III Semester MBA students. It was a number that made the audience swing with the beat.
The stage was then taken over by Mr. Hrishkesh Shankar (III Semester BCA student) who sang the Sufi song ‘Tune Kya Kar Dala’ by Kailash Kher. It was a melodious song with a touch of pop that got the audience to sing with him.
Music and dance plays an important role in the lives of people of Ruwanda and this was portrayed in the performance of the Ruwanda dance presented by Ruwanda students from various courses. The song was about the movement of a swan. Six students performed the dance with such grace that they were even asked to re-perform by the delegates from NAAC.
The stage was then set on fire with the all energetic and hugely popular form of Punjabi dance, Bhangra, executed by students from various courses. It was one of the most colourful form of dance that engulfed the spectators to an altogether different level. A level where their minds gave away and their bodies began to swing to the beat of music.
It was followed by a melodious theme song of Milestone (TJC Music Group) which brought a serene feeling in the room with a pleasant array of sounds. The song was written and composes by very talended musician from 3rd Sem. BA Journalism Mr. Ebenezer, the same group sang the Vande Mataram, A.R Rahman style arousing patriotic feelings in the hearts of the audiences.
Finally, few words were shared by the NAAC delegates Prof. Basudeb Burman, Dr. V. L. Maheshwari and Dr. M. D. Jahagirdar, who encouraged the students and thanked them for the wonderful evening. All the three delegates were highly impressed and commended the performance by the students saying the program was outstanding and superb. The proceedings reached a conclusion following the rendition of our national anthem.
