Special Address by Mr.K.Jairaj, I.A.S, Additional Chief Secretary, Govt. of Karnataka on 12th November 2010

Mr. K. Jairaj, I.A.S, Additional Chief Secretary, Govt. of Karnataka addressed MBA & MCA students of T.John Group of Institutions on "Institution-Industry Interaction and Challenges for Young Managers", on 12th November 2010.

Dr.Sridharan, Principal, TIMS, welcomed the Chief Guest, Mr.K.Jairaj, I.A.S., Dr.Thomas P. John, Chairman, TJGI, Wg.Cdr.(Rtd.) P.Sambasivan, Campus Director, Principals of TJGI, Faculty Members, Staff Members and students, for the function.

Dr.Thomas P.John, in his address mentioned that Mr.K.Jairaj, I.A.S., is Karnataka’s pride, who has excelled as I.A.S Officer and brought all round development to Karnataka, as one of the key functionaries from the Government.

Mr. Jairaj, I.A.S., congratulated the students that they should be proud to pursue their studies in TJGI, a well reputed institution, which is well known for its practical and industry oriented teaching.

Mr. Jairaj, I.A.S., in his address mentioned that he was happy to know that T.John Group of Institutions adopting the Rockefeller Habits to achieve higher goals. He brought to the knowledge of MBA/MCA students that India’s young population, which constitutes 40% of total population, will be the demographic dividend, which will make India to be number one, a super power.

He also compared the growth rate of India & Chaina, in terms of FDI and projected that India would attract more FDI by virtue of its resources, Managerial talents , Institutional systems, Infrastructure etc.

He, emphasized the point that if one wanted to be a successful Manager, he/she should possess the following Five Es.

  • ◊ Enthusiasm
  • ◊ Empowering Team Members
  • ◊ Execution Skills
  • ◊ Ethics

He recalled his Harvard University days and mentioned that HBS has already made it clear to the world that Management is a profession, which has a set of skills, standards, competencies and attitudes to be a profession. He also mentioned that he would come another occasion to address students of TJGI about Business Ethics and Corporate Governance.

Dr. Thomas P. John, Chairman, gave a memento as a token of love and respect to Mr. Jairaj and said that TJGI look forward to his continued support and encouragement.
