Infosys, Mysore visit by MBA Students

On 27th Nov, 2010, MBA III Sem Students of T John College visited the global education centre of Infosys Technologies Ltd, Mysore on an invitation from Infosys. The visit was a part of the SPARK event conducted by the Infosys for the benefit of Student community. The program was between 10.30 AM to 5.00 PM.

The students were taken inside the campus and were offered a small bag, note pad and a pencil and were made to assemble in a beautiful air-conditioned hi-tech auditorium with seating capacity of 800. Students were shown two short documentaries on the history, culture, vision, mission, success story and the customer’s feedback on Infosys. Here students got an insight in to high standards set by Infosys. A talk by founder chairman Mr.N.R.Narayana Murthy was also aired, which was a real inspiring talk.

After the Tea break, the students were addressed by senior training manager Mr.Eswaran , who spoke about relevance of IT to business. He spoke about importance of IT in business with various live examples like Indian railways and retail Industry etc., this talk has given a very good insight to the students.

Then our students were taken to their canteen (food court), which was a pleasure to watch. A nice buffet lunch was offered to the students and faculty.

The most important activity was the post lunch session, Mr. Rangarajan senior training manager spoke about project management and explained various stages in project management. Later students were made into 25 groups and asked to prepare a poster on any project of their choice in 20 minutes, all the students participated very enthusiastically in this activity. The Infosys team appreciated all the students for their innovative ideas. An idea floated by students of TJC on setting up an International university in Bangalore was adjourned the best project.

The front building of GEC which is exactly similar to Capitol, the seat of US Govt. In Washington DC, is a demo of the rising Indian might in the world scenario.

Later students were over whelmed in tour of Infosys campus. A software engineer, who moderated the visit Mr.Pralay and Mr.Kumaran, took us around the campus which is marvelous and a symbol of success and achievement.

In the final leg Mr.Y.Muralidhar Reddy, faculty, Dept of management expressed sincere thanks and gratitude to the Infosys team for making a visit memorable for life time to all of us. Other faculty members from Dept. Of management Mr.Kalicharan, Mr. Mithileshwar Prasad, Mr. Anand and Mr. Vinod accompanied students.

The response from the students was great and they were all overjoyed with the experience they had. They not only visited the company, but also got an insight into the corporate world through one of the most successful companies in the world. The GEC of Infosys is the largest corporate training centre in the World.
