Keeping in mind the necessity of the general awareness, on table mannerism and dining etiquettes in students and teachers, the Department of Hotel Management – T. John College on July 14, 20 & 21, 2011 has taken a leap ahead in imparting right knowledge to the staff and students of the TJGI. The Food and Beverage Service Department of BHM took the right initiative in designing a Power Point Presentation related to the aforesaid topic, and was well facilitated on three different days. The entire staff of T. John College and the Post Graduate students of T. John College of Pharmacy were present for the learning process. The session began by saying "Table skills are fundamental to every public dining situation, and the basics of essential fine dining skills, has to be built on a solid knowledge base."

It was well conveyed to all that, in a society it is important to have manners and more so, table manners. All were informed that if they don't want to be boorish, offensive or sloppy while dining amongst a group of people, it's important to learn table manners and etiquette. Students were well reminded of the fact that, there are no hard and fast rules of how you should present yourself while dining, but guidelines and tips about the way one should have his/ her food while among a group of people were explained to those present .The session stressed on the factor "First impression" that has an important place in various walks of life and they go a long way in creating an ever-lasting impression about your personality. "First impressions are very important especially when it comes to professional reasons. Having the right kind of dining etiquette can help you score brownie points with prospective employers as well. The right etiquette can help you in your professional and personal life as well. Making a powerful impression about yourself can help you get the most desirable jobs and also earn you respect in the society", the facilitator pointed out to the eager learners. Resourceful inputs on, Fine Dining Etiquettes, Table Manners and body language, Table Setting Ideas and Etiquettes, Ways to Set Tables and Basics on Alcoholic Beverages were rendered during the presentation.
