Ethnic Day was celebrated in T. John College on Saturday August 27, 2011. The day was celebrated with great pomp and show. The students of various ethnicities who come from various states within India and also from various other countries were given an opportunity to exhibit their culture and traditions.

The celebration commenced at 9.00 a.m. in the morning with the "Introductory Speech" delivered by the students Shatakshi and Davis. The "Introductory Speech" was followed by the welcome address of the Campus Director of TJGI, Wg. (Ret"d) P. Sambasivan, Principal of TJC, Dr. George Easaw, and Vice-Principal of TJC, Dr. Nilanjana Basu. The programmes which were held on that day were: The Taal Dance, a group dance called "The Colour of Kerala", a group song by "Milestone", The Sri Lankan Dance, a group song representing "Kerala Culture", an "Introductory Speech" regarding Africa"s history and culture by an African student from BA, an African dance representing the culture of Rwanda, an African song, a program by TIMS (T. John Institute of Management and Science), a Bengali song and dance, a song by the TJC Principal, another Sri Lankan dance called "Shanti Karma", a Nepali dance and a Nepali song presented by the students of BHM, another group song by "Milestone", an "Ethnic Parade" by the students attired in their ethnic wear and a closing speech by Shatakshi and Davis. The national anthems of India, Sri Lanka and Nepal were sung by the students and the faculty members. The programme was ended on a celebratory note with much fanfare.
