T. John Group of Institutions, Department of Physical Education & Sports is a cell of major activity in the Campus. It was established in 1993 and ISO certified in 2006 – 07. TJGI is affiliated to Bangalore University, Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) and Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU, Belgaum). The Department of Physical Education & Sports is well equipped with modern infrastructure and conducts activities like Basketball, Volleyball, Badminton, Table Tennis, Cricket, Handball, Softball, Judo, Football, Netball, Chess, Carrom, Athletics and Martial Arts. Sports are in fact a way of life for the student’s health and fitness and those looking for professional star status. Physical education, a learning experience, offers a unique opportunity for problem – solving, self-expression and socialization. A well-implemented, comprehensive programme is an essential component for the growth of both mind and body.
Physical Education is one of the important aspects of the educational programme of T. John Group of Institutions. The Campus is well equipped with modern infrastructure for physical education and sports. Training is provided in various modern and traditional Indian games. The activities include Basketball, Volleyball, Badminton, Table-tennis, Cricket, Handball, Softball, Throw ball, Judo, Football, Netball, Chess, Carrom, Athletics, Martial arts under modern games; and Yoga, Kho-Kho, Kabbadi, etc. under the traditional sport activities of India. The objective is to make sports and physical activities an important part of the daily routine making it a way of life and generating fitness awareness among the masses. The programmes of physical education provide opportunities to participate in various competitions inside the campus as intramural competitions and also at the national/ state/ district/ zonal/ inter –zonal/ selection trials/ inter-university/ South zone inter-university/ All India university tournaments as extramural competitions and thus develop personality.
The Physical Education & Sports Department has a huge outfield area of 40.000 sq meters and an indoor area of 1000 sq meters for basket ball, football, volley ball, throw ball, table tennis, chess, Carrom, etc,.
At present Physical Education & Sports Department has in its stock all major sports and games with fully loaded equipment and upcoming project of multi gym, snooker tables, foosball, striking tables etc,. The students can take part in individual and group events as and when they are required as we have separate sports activity room.

Timing: 8.oo AM to 6.30 PM
Working Days
All days in a week, PHYSICAL EDUCATION & SPORTS Department will be closed on all general holidays and college declared holidays except sports days, coaching camp schedules and practice sessions for particular events.
- Condition of Borrowing
-
- ◊ Each student can borrow one sports and games material for a period of three days only.
- ◊ College Team member can get one set of sports and games jersey for the course time.
- ◊ Sports and Games material can be issued to the students by submitting the valid ID Card
- ◊ Materials can be renewed for additional 3 more days by signing in the movement register.
- ◊ Physical Education Director can take back the issued sports materials anytime if required by some other borrower.
- ◊ The Physical Education director has authority to issue, renew or recall within the stipulated time.
- ◊ The borrower is responsible for the sports material borrowed in his/ her ID card.
- ◊ Non return of sports materials before due date for reasons like sickness, examination, etc. are not considered for the exemption from fine.
- ◊ If any material is lost, the borrower will be charged for replacing the same brand material. The replacement of material will be reflected in the stock register.
- ◊ Students can use the sports & game room when they are required with the permission of the concerned faculty member or head.
- Rules and Regulations

- ◊ A student can borrow the sports material by submitting his/her I D card and should sign in the movement register.
- ◊ The Sports & Games material is not transferable.
- ◊ If the material is not returned within the due date, a due note will be sent to the concerned HOD.
- ◊ In case of any damages made to the sports material, the Physical Education Director has the authority to collect the same material from the student and the nature of damage will be assessed.
- ◊ The student cannot use the issued sports material outside the campus. In case college allotted tournaments.
- General instructions

- ◊ Collect the sports material and meet the Physical Education director for more sports information.
- ◊ Check the notice boards for the ongoing sports activities, sports news and calendar of events.
- ◊ Use the Sports Material in a proper manner and keep it in good condition.
- ◊ If any student finds the sports material in the campus it is to be returned to the Department of Sports.
- ◊ Keep the sports field neat and clean.
- ◊ During the sports activities show the ID cards and Permission letter as and when faculty members ask.
- Achievements

T. John College of Nursing
- ◊ Mr. Ramesh A. P. of TJCN 4th year participated in RGUHS Inter Collegiate Chess tournament held at Ambedkar Institute of Medical Sciences, Bangalore. He was ranked 6th and also participated in RGUHS inter – zone Chess tournament cum selection trails.
- ◊ Miss. Neethu D. S participated in RGUHS inter collegiate Ball Badminton inter zone cum selection trials and she was selected as RGUHS team member and also captain of the team.
- ◊ Miss. Neethu participated in All India Universities Ball badminton tournament held at SRM University, Chennai. She led the RGUHS team for the coaching camp held at Sri Devi College of Nursing.
- ◊ TJCN students participated in RGUHS 12th Inter College Annual Athletic Championship 2011, conducted by Alvas College of Nursing, Moodabidri. They bagged 2nd place (silver medal) in 20 Km walk (Men) and 2nd place (silver medal) in 5 Km walk (women).
- ◊ 4 X 400 meters relay for men and one cultural second prize in cultural fest.
- ◊ TJCN Football team participated in Inter collegiate football tournament held at Sri Krishna Devaraya Dental Science, Bangalore.

T. John Institute of Technology

- ◊ Our students participated in 13th M.S. Ramaiya Memorial Cup Cricket Tournament and also VTU south zone inter collegiate cricket competition.
- ◊ Mr. Chinni Sreedhara, the physical education director, attended annual physical education meeting to prepare the calendar of events for the academic year and he was nominated for the VTU observer committee (sports).
- ◊ TJIT Cricket team participated in the VET College of Management cup tournament.

T. John College
- ◊ Our Basket ball team participated in Full Infas college tournament.
- ◊ Mr. Ifnan, participated in the Bangalore University selection trials for soft ball and selected as a bub team player and elected as the team captain and he was also selected for All India University soft ball tournament.
- ◊ Mr. Servesh of MCA Ist Semester was selected as a volunteer for the Delhi 2010 common wealth games.
- ◊ TJC students participated in Bangalore university inter collegiate chess tournament they are Mr. sagar H Chawan V Sem BSc Bt., Mr. Kasun Srinath Liyanagama V Sem B.sc Bt, Mr. Eappen George V sem BBM, Mr. Krishna Chanaka Jayasundar V Sem BBM, Shalinda Dharmapriya III Sem BHM.
- ◊ TJC-Srilankan Team participated in VET College Soft ball Cricket tournament
- ◊ Department of Hotel Management Students Participated in PES College KREEDA 2010-11. Our students participated in events- cricket, basketball, shuttle badminton, table tennis, chess, volleyball, and carom, Mr. Salinda Dharamapriya got first place in chess tournament 3rd Oct 2010.

◊ TJCN- students of BSc Nursing participated RGUHS Bangalore Zone Chess Tournament 2011-12 and achieved III place
◊ TJCP- Students of B. Pharmacy participated in RGUHS Bangalore Zone Table Tennis Tournament organized by Ambedker Medical College
◊ Department of Physical Education & Sports conducted Outbound activity for FDP Programme on June 17, 2011 to Big bannian tree and innovative film city.
◊ Department of Physical Education Conducted fitness programme in the campus to bridge course students.
◊ DPE & S conducted trekking to bridge course students on June 12, 2011 to Bannerghatta hills and T K Falls.
◊ TJCP - DPE & S organized coaching camp to Pharmacy and Nursing students from June 4th to July 13, 2011.

◊ TJCN - BSc Nursing Students Participated in RGUHS Bangalore Zone Shuttle Badminton Tournament and Stood Third Place.
◊ TJIT - Mr. chinni sreedhara nominated as a Selection committee member for Visvesvaraya Technological University(VTU) Hockey team and observer for VTU inter zone and selection trials Hockey tournament.
◊ TJIT- Mr Ravindra Kanagi Participated in VTU Selection trials for Ball badminton 2010-11.
◊ TJIT -CONGRATULATIONS TO HOCKEY BOY!!!- Mr. Ashwin Somaiah K.P (II Sem, B.E Telecom) of T. John Institute of Technology, has been selected as a member of the VTU Hockey team during "Hockey Selections Trials" which was held on May 6-9, 2011 at R.L. Jalappa Institute of Technology. A total of 172 players had participated for this event. Out of 172 only 16 participants were selected and Ashwin was one of them. With this achievement he has made not only himself but also his parents, his college and his friends very proud. The Principal, Management, Staff, Students and Dept. of Physical Education congratulate Mr. Ashwin Somaiah for his outstanding and gigantic performance. All the very best to him and his team!
◊ Mr. Chinni Sreedhara represented RGUHS as a team manager for south zone inter university chess tournament 2010-11 held at Satyabhama University, Chennai, Tamilnadu. RGUHS got 10th place with his leadership among 80 teams.
Trekking
Trekking – Sports department has taken the students and faculties for the trekking and rock climbing to Savandurga fort, Bannerghatta up hills, t k falls, Manchanabele dam, ISRO Satellite station, big Bannian tree, and visit to stadiums and sports authority of India.

Mr. Chinni Sreedhara, Physical Education Director was nominated as sports observer for the RGUHS Inter zone and selection trails chess tournament held at Koppa.
RGUHS table tennis conducted by TJCP
The Inaugural Ceremony of Inter- Collegiate Table Tennis Tournament of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka, was held at T. John College of Pharmacy Mr. G. K Vishwanath, a former three times national champion, Ekalavya award recipient and Vice President of Karnataka Table Tennis Association, inaugurated the tournament by Lamp lighting. Speaking on the occasion, he recalled the poor conditions in his playing days and urged the younger generation to develop passion for the game and make full use of the modern facilities available to them.
