Talk by DCP Dr. Harsha at T. John College
The Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), South East Bangalore, Dr. Harsha, paid a visit to the College Campus, on invitation by the management, on July 21, 2011. There was an event organized by the college, where the Deputy Commissioner addressed the students and the faculties.
The event took place at TJC (B block) 3rd floor, where students and teachers from all departments were gathered. It began at 11.30 a.m, with the arrival of the Guest Dr. Harsha, accompanied by the Campus Director, Principal (TJC), and the Head of The Department of Mechanical Engineering TJIT.
The welcome speech was delivered by Ms. Revathi Nambiar, from BBM 3rd Sem, and followed by invocation song by Mr. Rishikesh from BCA 3rd Sem. Principal TJC, Dr. George Easaw, addressed the audience, saying that this was an important event on safe and secular environment and the student community's contribution towards it. He also welcomed the DCP on behalf of T. John College. Then the Head of the Department of Management, Mr. Ranganathaswamy, presented a medicinal plant to the chief guest. It was followed by Campus Director Rtd. Wng. Cmndr. P. Sambasivam's speech, which was an introduction of the guest, and he said that it was a privilege having such an energetic, young personality among us. He briefly introduced Dr. Harsha's background, past experinces and interests.
Then Dr. Harsha delivered his address. His inspirational speech began with a friendly introduction of himself and with an assurance that his speech will be student friendly. He insisted on the importance of youth in the nation and referring the term "human Capital" - YOU and inspired the students by relating many issues with ethics, morality, civic responsibility hard work and the will to achieve. He also insisted on the privilege of being a student in Bangalore and the relevance of global importance given to Bangalore; the positives and negatives of being a student in this era in the silicon valley of India. He requested the students to give their best to assure law and order in this country and to build themselves with high values.
Dr. Harsha's speech was followed by an interactive session where all students and faculty members were given an opportunity interact with him and to ask him questions. Summarizing all the questions, Dr. Harsha talked about his reasons for being an MBBS graduate and preferring to be in the Police Service, the thin line between fun and crime, how he as a Deputy Commissioner of Police handles pressure and manages a large team under him.
At the end, the principal presented a memento to Dr. Harsha, and the event ended with the vote of thanks by one of the students.
