The CSR team at Techcil has been evaluating options since June for their project (after the Rotary blood donation camp) to volunteer or fund. A visit to 'Samarthanam Trust for Disabled' helped understand the range of activities they are involved in - from hostels for disabled, to education for visually impaired, and even mid-day meals for thousands of children. They have recently inaugurated a 100-seater BPO in Bangalore, which would employ physically challenged.

During the discussions it was realized that more than funding, our help was needed to volunteer or spend time for some activity. One of them suggested we play a Cricket match with their visually impaired team. And, this isn't just any team - it's the official Indian team which has played in other countries - and is currently preparing for their next World Cup in 2012.

The search for a cricket ground took us to T. John Group of Institutions, where the Dr. Thomas P. John, [Chairman] happily agreed to partner with and help for the event. T.John group has been a leading name in the higher education sector, and caters to career aspirations of a wide group of students from [14] countries.

It's a common misconception that all social causes can be supported by just donating money. T. John Group are proud to be associated with Samarthanam and spending some quality time with them. With this match, we are hoping to help create the awareness about their passion for the sport, while they prepare for their next world cup - Manjinder Singh, MD at Techcil Technology.

The Cricket Match took place between 9am & 2pm on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at T. John Group of Institutions on Bannerghatta Road, Bangalore. The event was organized by Mr. Rajesh Naik, Marketing Head, TJGI & Dept. of Physical Education and Sports, TJGI.
