Biosciences Educational Trip to Ooty
On 28th sept 2010, T. John College organized a 3 day educational trip to Ooty for MSc Biotech students in which MSc Biotech 1st sem and 3rd sem participated actively. Total 40 students took part including 24 boys and 16 girls who all had a shimmering experience of this trip.
Starting with the trip, their first destination on 28th morning was Lab Land Biotech pvt.ltd, which is a global player in the field of Plant Biotechnology with a fully equipped laboratory at Mysore. The students were made familiar with plant tissue culture, green house, biodiesel production through jatropha plant. Mr. Mohan, Mr. Shahid and ma’am Sangita (M.D.) demonstrated about the procedure for extraction of biodiesel from the plant.
Finishing off with the Lab Land, they reached Mudumalai forest via Bandipur. Students had a thrilling experience of Mudumalai Tiger Reserve. All enjoyed the 2 hours safari journey looking for wild animals. At the end of the day, they reached Ooty where they had their dinner and then moved to their respective cottages.
The next morning they started with amusements and visit to various places like Botanical Garden, Sim’s Park, Rose garden and ending their day with an industrial visit to Pasteur’s institute which is located in Kunoor.
Students were accompanied by Mr. Babu and Ms. Devi, faculty of bioscience department (T. John College).
They returned by 30th afternoon from Ooty.
