Screening of a Movie
The movie, A Bright Star, was screened for II semester, B. A. students on December 22, 2011. The film is based on the last three years of life of the English Romantic poet John Keats and his romantic relationship with Fanny Brawne. It stars Ben Whishaw as John Keats and Abbie Cornish as Fanny Brawne. The film is a British, Australian and French co-production directed by Jane Campion. The film is inspired by a biography of John Keats by Andrew Motion and the title of the film refers to a sonnet written by John Keats “Bright star, would I were stedfast as thou art” which he wrote when he was with Fanny Brawne.
The students of the class were there in full strength to watch the movie. The students watched the movie with great enthusiasm and excitement. It also gave them an insight into the famous poet’s life whose verse, “Ode to a Nightingale”, they will be reading in their course.
